EVOCATION SERIES (Ongoing)

There is a voyeuristic aspect to these expressive works as I focus on single figures in ambiguous backgrounds. For a viewer to be in a position to scrutinize a figure with impunity, places them in an intimate relationship with the subject. Evocation may be interpreted as, “The act of bringing or recalling a feeling, memory or image to the conscious mind.” The figure images are merely suggestions and metaphors of feelings and sensations we all experience at various stages in our lives. With the intermingling of lustrous inks, they appear to be dissolving in liquid or shrouded behind mark-making, patterns and glyphs.
